Hello! I'm Ayesha, an aspiring 2D artist with a keen eye for detail. My passion for 2D compositing is driven by the task of achieving seamlessly integrated elements, which keeps me engaged. While I've cherished my time at Escape Studios, exploring 2D compositing, my experience as a Producer on our group projects has steered my interest towards Production Coordination. What was your inspiration for pursuing a career in VFX?
I love the creative aspects of VFX, but what inspired me to pursue a career in it is the perfect balance of creative and technical skills. It keeps me engaged, while offering numerous opportunities to learn new methods and techniques. I believe it's the ideal industry for me because it's constantly evolving, with ever-changing technology to explore.
What hobbies do you have?
In my spare time, I enjoy rock climbing; just like in my professional life, I love a challenge, and rock climbing is the perfect sport for that. Additionally, I find enjoyment in singing and songwriting; I believe this helps to boost my confidence and serves as a creative outlet for self-expression.
How would your peers describe you in 3 words?
Organised, Productive and Thoughtful
Do you have any industry experience? If so, please give a concise explanation of the experience.
At present, I haven't gained any direct industry experience. However, I've attended talks by industry professionals who visit Escape Studios, and I've also reached out to individuals in the industry on LinkedIn. I believe I have a solid understanding of the industry, and most importantly, I'm eager to learn and adapt to a company's work ethic.
How would you describe your contribution to your group project?
In our group project, Game Heist, my roles were VFX Producer and 2D Artist. I take great pride in my projects and ensure we always address feedback given to align our project with our professors' expectations. I particularly enjoyed utilising Autodesk Flow Production Tracking (Shotgun), as I appreciate organising projects in efficient ways. I believe one of the most crucial roles of the producer in this project was ensuring each of our artists remained motivated and communicated their progress effectively. After a few weeks, I found that I could foster a productive working environment.
What lessons did you learn from undertaking your project that you'll take with you into your career?
The most crucial lesson I learnt was how to manage high levels of stress. This project pushed me far, dealing with technical issues in our work and conflicts within the team. Learning to navigate these challenges and reach constructive solutions was difficult, but it's a skill I'm confident I can apply in the future. I learned to let go of certain situations and to keep moving forward to ensure our project is completed to the best of our ability.
What would your ideal first role in the industry be?
I aspire to become a Production Assistant or Production Coordinator; I am eager for the chance to work alongside experienced professionals and absorb their expertise. Starting in these roles would provide me with invaluable insights into the production process within a VFX house and allow me to develop the necessary skills to progress in my career.
What's an achievement from the past 3 years that you're proud of?
Our last VFX project, 'Theseus and the Minotaur', stands out as an achievement I'm immensely proud of. It was the first time I was a producer for a short film, and the dedication and hard work of everyone in the team resulted in the film receiving awards at film festivals. I learned so much from this project, especially how vital it is to have a team that works so well together. This experience has ignited my passion to continue producing projects.
