I am a highly adaptable individual with a background in fine arts and visual communication. I am now pursuing a career in post-production, and hope to one day become a VFX Supervisor. Currently, my skill set lies in 2D Compositing & Cleanup; however, I am really invested in the early developmental stages of a production, such as world-building and concept art. My hobby for story-telling and visual imagery has accumulated in many ways, and I especially love collecting postcards and ‘The Art of the Movie’ books.

What was your inspiration for pursuing a career in VFX?
Transformers: Dark of the Moon. It was the pivotal film that really opened my eyes - I was left thinking "Can a perfectly normal PC monitor really transform into a hyperreal, mechanical, evil hissing bird creature? Huge landscapes filled with hyper-detailed aliens, a massive worm erupting out of the surface of the moon, tearing through skyscrapers for breakfast… People can make these things?" It was so mind-blowing to me, how these insanely intricate robots were interacting with the real actors, the real environment, everything around them. I just wanted to get up and find out how such magic is created.
What hobbies do you have?
Architectural sight-seeing, playing badminton, reading about theoretical physics, collecting indie artbooks, going life drawing, window shopping, and a long-time love for menswear. I like to photograph mannequin displays for drawing reference, and watch men’s fashion runway shows. I like to design characters with a focus on fashion, donning them in various colourful outfits.
How would your peers describe you in 3 words?
Diligent, Comes-in-clutch, Caring
Do you have any industry experience? If so, please give a concise explanation of the experience.
Although I haven't directly had work experience, I have visited several studios in my own time, and attended a 10 year anniversary event for a studio i admire. Alongside my second and third year projects at Escape Studios, I joined 'Enactus' - a global non-profit organisation that supports social entrepreneurship, where I was promoted to Lead Graphic Designer. Additionally during those two years, I have also worked with clients on several external short films, delivering Rotoscoping and Clean-up shots for: 'Oceans Playbook', and 'Odd Socks'.
How would you describe your contribution to your group project?
Recently, we released our first short film, called the ‘Sea of Madness’, which has been nominated for the Rookies Award. In that previous team project, as well as being part of a three-man 2D department, my responsibility as the Producer was to handle deadlines and assign tasks using ShotGrid/Flow, whilst reaching out to external contacts for filming licences, sound design, etcetera, and being available for communication 24/7. For this group project, ‘X-Terminate’, I was a 2D artist responsible for plate prep and post production aspects. In addition, I was an SFX artist, creating the sound effects mainly through Foley.
What lessons did you learn from undertaking your project that you'll take with you into your career?
That you can't do everything, and you shouldn't do everything; with the right attitude, patience, and level of communication, you can forge bonds and build connections with anyone. From my little experience of being Producer for multiple team projects at Escape, I have learnt that there will always be more work to be done, and prioritising what's important whilst delegating enough time for rest, recuperation, and leeway is essential. Yes, one can spend 120% and output their very best effort and work, but is it really worth it? Or should we take a step back, and come back with the reinforcements of our fellow peers and team to tackle it together. I believe that we can only create the best work if we put our minds and talent together.
What would your ideal first role in the industry be?
My ideal first role in the industry would be as a Junior Compositor in a small and fun community. I would like to be able to see the process of a production, and ideas come to life from start to finish. I would love to be able to meet new creatives and learn about their journey and their goals and aspirations. If I could be involved in a variety of projects, like for Film, Advertising, or Indie content, that touch upon a broad range of mediums, such as Motion Graphics, Hand-Drawn FX, etcetera, that would be most exciting!
What's an achievement from the past 3 years that you're proud of?
This would be from my first year of Escape: I landed my first job, as a store associate at TKMaxx. I remember waking up at 4:30 in the morning to make it into Central London for my interview, and calling my mum as soon as she woke up after being accepted for the job on the same day. Because it was my first in-person interview of any kind since COVID hit, it was extra nerve-wracking. Even though I was confident in presenting my work and explaining my thought processes online through Teams meetings, it was very different to not have any sort of prompts surrounding you, with only the person before you in an unfamiliar room.
