I’ve been studying Visual Effects for 5 years, but only just found my passion in Zbrush and Character Modelling. My goals are to create characters that people can feel connected to. To start my career, I’d like to get a job working as a junior artist, where I can continue to develop my skills under guidance.

What was your inspiration for pursuing a career in VFX?

Initially video games like 'Dark Souls' with amazing level designs and unforgettable bosses, inspired me to start 3D Modelling. From there, my interest spread into VFX.

What hobbies do you have?

My Hobbies over the past few years have been mostly within the creative media space. Such as Pyrography, Sculpting and Digital Art. I’m also a passionate collector, particularly of Trading Cards.

How would your peers describe you in 3 words?

Dependable, Logical, Creative

Do you have any industry experience? If so, please give a concise explanation of the experience.

I haven't had direct industry experience yet. Instead, I've dedicated my time to studying and informing myself about the industry to ensure I'm well-prepared.

I also make a point to attend seminars to gain insights into professional life whenever possible.

How would you describe your contribution to your group project?

I believe I contributed a great deal to this project. I created one of the characters, which involved researching and designing how he would look and function. I also took responsibility for lots of the lighting and rendering which, albeit tedious, hugely expands my skill set every time I need to do it.

What lessons did you learn from undertaking your project that you'll take with you into your career?

The primary lesson I gained from this project was understanding the dynamics of teamwork.
As visual effects artists, collaborating closely with animators allowed me to better understand their pipeline. Additionally, it reaffirmed the importance of meeting deadlines, ensuring animators and 2D artists had enough time.

What would your ideal first role in the industry be?

I would like to start off as a 3D modeller, creating assets for movie or television productions. I believe this would allow me the opportunity to expand my skills but also receive good mentorship.
My dreams of becoming a character modeller will likely come a little later in my career as I’d like to first start off with a slightly more junior role.

What's an achievement from the past 3 years that you're proud of?

My biggest achievement would be the success of our last group project at Escape- ‘Theseus and the Minotaur’. We were granted with two awards at different film festivals: ‘Best VFX’ and best ‘Super Short Film’
However even without the awards, watching our work brings me a great sense of pride as it was the result of our hard efforts for a number of months.
