Hi everyone. I’m a 3D VFX Artist that wishes to try every aspect of the VFX pipeline within a studio setting. I’m driven to learn new techniques and workflows which allow higher quality work to be produced more efficiently. I find enjoyment in my work from solving creative, and technical issues that enable the final result to be completed. I hope to learn much more and experience a studio setting with amazing teams.

What was your inspiration for pursuing a career in VFX?

Transformers has been a huge inspiration as the quality level of detail and the quality of work never ceases to amaze me.

What hobbies do you have?

My favourite hobby is musical performance in jazz orchestras playing the bass. As a physical activity I love is to go cycling because of the speed. And there's nothing more relaxing than sitting down, playing games with friends, and having a laugh

How would your peers describe you in 3 words?

Motivated, Talented, Inquisitive

Do you have any industry experience? If so, please give a concise explanation of the experience.

I have been working at The Flying Colour Company for 7 months as a VFX Generalist. I started off doing tracking and have now moved to doing modelling, layout, animation and lighting too. I have worked on multiple projects which are still to be released.

How would you describe your contribution to your group project?

In the project 'D.A.N.S.', I have been the 3D supervisor/Lead/Pipeline TD. I designed the pipeline to be as efficient as possible and to allow artists to have as much time as needed without any rush. When any technical problem occurred, I would be the one to fix it and make sure everything ran smoothly. I also did tracking, modelling, layout, shading, lighting and rendering. My focus was to ensure everyone could work simultaneously within the pipeline and to not be restricted by dependencies on either technology or others work.

What lessons did you learn from undertaking your project that you'll take with you into your career?

Planning is the most important task. Myself and others in our group made sure to plan every step and think how one decision will affect the pipeline down the line. In other projects not enough planning was done and so it got stressful throughout the whole project, but with 'D.A.N.S.', planning enabled us to be calm even when problems occurred. I’ve also learned that clear communication is key when giving feedback or tasking someone with something.

What would your ideal first role in the industry be?

I would love to have the chance to be a 3D Generalist in a studio. I wish to be able to learn every aspect of VFX and get the chance to work on different projects, contributing different things. Being a generalist would help me learn so I could contribute more to companies in the creative process.

What's an achievement from the past 3 years that you're proud of?

My biggest achievement so far is getting a job at The Flying Colour Company. I got this after completing my second year at Escape. I worked extremely hard that year for my own course work, often not sleeping to make sure the work was handed in on time and to a high standard. I’m very proud of myself as the hard work I put in has paid off and I hope that more hard work will reward me with other opportunities.
