What was your inspiration for pursuing a career in Animation?
Star Wars/Transformers are my biggest inspiration because I was intrigued by the advanced animation used to create an astonishing performance, which made me feel like I was in the movie.
What hobbies do you have?
One of my hobbies is games with my favourite game being Mortal Kombat. I am fascinated by the designs of each character and I get to play with my friends and family. Going to the gym helps clear my mind when I am having trouble figuring something out. I also enjoy going to the cinema, it helps me get inspiration to enhance my ideas for my animation.
How would your peers describe you in 3 words?
Diligent, Creative, Collaborative
Do you have any industry experience? If so, please give a concise explanation of the experience.
I haven't had any experience working within an industry, but I have been able to secure work experience in July for a week at Splash Damage based in Bromley. This will be a good opportunity for me to learn new things, work with many talented people and to gain a real world experience.
How would you describe your contribution to your group project?
In my current project, 'Game Heist', my role was Animator. I gave a lot of consideration to how I would use ‘Small Soldiers’ and ‘Toy Story’ as references to creating an appealing animation. I’ve also used snappy animation to make the timing and movement of the characters more entertaining.
What lessons did you learn from undertaking your project that you'll take with you into your career?
During my time at Escape Studios, I have learned to take feedback, not as criticism, but as a positive response to help improve my work further. Getting other people's opinions is what has helped me to gain new ideas in order to create an appealing animation that the audience can see.
What would your ideal first role in the industry be?
I would like to start off my role as a 3D animator in the industry as I hope to work with many talented people on a number of projects. This role will give me the chance to learn new skills that I could use to further improve my animation and possible rigging.
What's an achievement from the past 3 years that you're proud of?
Last year, my teammates and I started our first short film, 'Squeaky Clean'. We talked among ourselves on what our strengths and weaknesses were and how we could help each other. It took us time and problem solving to create our animation, but working as a team made a difference and I'm so proud of our finished project.
