I am a 3D animator, passionate about storytelling through imagery and bringing characters to life. I enjoy doing facial animation and actions on characters, leaning towards cartooniness and comedy, but I am capable of creating emotional scenes as well. I am keen to begin my career as a Junior 3D Character Animator, or even as a junior concept artist. However, I am also open to any other roles that would get me a foothold in the industry.

What was your inspiration for pursuing a career in Animation?

I was always amazed by animation and comics since they told stories through illustration and imagery. I especially love how expressive the characters are in these media, and I try all I can to achieve this myself every time I draw or animate.

What hobbies do you have?

My main hobby is Drawing and Comics. It has always been a pastime where I could get creative and put on paper the images I have in my head of characters, landscapes and stories, bringing them to life. I also enjoy reading comics, which has inspired me to do some of my own too. I also enjoy gaming - I love it because it is a way to have fun either immerse in a universe, be competitive or team up with my friends and family. Lastly, watching movies has always been a way to bond with my family, but I enjoy getting immersed in both movies' plot and graphics. Listening to music is also a way to get immersed for me, but usually, it keeps me focused and motivated even as I work on something.

How would your peers describe you in 3 words?

Reliable, Hardworking, Passionate

Do you have any industry experience? If so, please give a concise explanation of the experience.

While I do not have any experience working within the industry, I have taken every opportunity to attend seminars and talks from industry professionals, which have given me a better understanding of what happens during projects in the animation and VFX industry. I visited MPC to see their talk and took the opportunity to exchange with some of the animation professionals within the company about how they work within the industry as creature animators and how their careers developed in MPC.

How would you describe your contribution to your group project?

In “X-Terminate”, my role was Art Director. I had many different responsibilities during the pre-production phase, notably working on character design and set design. Although we as a team had decided on the tone of the short, I had to follow it and create the setup of the environment that would be filmed, including the placements of the CG elements. I was also in charge of the design of the title and credits sequences as well as the poster, here I worked with a few other people to achieve what I had in mind.

What lessons did you learn from undertaking your project that you'll take with you into your career?

One lesson that I will retain for my career, is that communication is crucial to the success of a project. If there is no communication between teammates it eventually slows down the project, so I strive to make sure everyone is on the same page to get the best outcome possible. I understand that it can be challenging to get everyone involved, but I am keen to make sure that I can make projects flow better by communicating more.

What would your ideal first role in the industry be?

Ideally, I would like to be a Junior 3D Animator, or at least have an internship in this field. I am more proficient as a Character Animator, but I believe I still have a lot more to learn and that I can still develop further as a Creature Animator. I am open to doing various styles of animation too, as I would like to broaden the range of my abilities within the field.

What's an achievement from the past 3 years that you're proud of?

In the past few months, I decided to bring back to life a very old series of fan comics I made as a child and make it a proper blog. It took dedication and time to get this series going again, and I work on this passion project when I have some spare time. I even managed to achieve more than I anticipated as I made the blog more interactive with the fandom and not just simply some comic pages.
