Hi, I'm Pelumi, a 22-year-old 3D Animation Student aspiring to become a great Character Animator within the industry. From childhood, I always enjoyed video games and movies which inspired me to begin drawing. As I grew up, I didn't fully have an idea of what I wanted to do within the industry and how to get there, but during sixth form, after watching a lot of media, I decided I wanted to become a 3D Animator.

What was your inspiration for pursuing a career in Animation?
My inspiration for a career in animation delved from anime but what really pushed me to 3D animation was the Spiderverse animation.
What hobbies do you have?
My hobbies revolve around video editing, drawing and entertainment(movies and games)
How would your peers describe you in 3 words?
Enthusiastic, kind and hardworking
Do you have any industry experience? If so, please give a concise explanation of the experience.
During my time at Escape, I collaborated with other course members and managed to video editing with Supersnake which was in collaboration with Frieze Art Week to do a logo edit for their brand, I managed to be able to blend the snake animation within the video with their logo.
How would you describe your contribution to your group project?
With the Life gives you Lemons, my role was being an animator, lead sound, editor and also cinematographer. As an animator, sound and video editor I had to have a great understanding of the direction of our short film, we had references from a short film called Avocado man which is what our character and short film took great inspiration from . This helped me with not only understanding the sound and music to go for but also understanding how the character would be expressed through animation.
What lessons did you learn from undertaking your project that you'll take with you into your career?
One thing that I have learned throughout these projects is to always be open to criticism and always update the Lead Animators with their desired vision for animation. This helps with keeping to time constraints and always learning to improve. Criticism from peers helped me grow greatly, not only with the 'Life Gives You Lemons' project, but also with the 'Fathers Blade' project we worked on.
What would your ideal first role in the industry be?
The first role I would love to be as part of the industry would be a Character Animator. Currently, as a junior, I have great experience with editing, so I could aim to grow by joining as an Edit Assistant and cultivating my skills to be a 3D Character Animator later within the company as being a 3D Animator is my desired role.
What's an achievement from the past 3 years that you're proud of?
Throughout the past 3 years, I'm very proud of my growth in understanding body mechanics within animation, and realising the importance of references and understanding how the human body works. After understanding this, I was able to see great improvements in my animation within 3rd year. I'm also very proud of how much I have communicated with other students and how much I have grown from my peers.
