What was your inspiration for pursuing a career in Game Art?

Overwatch was the game that introduced me to my friends whom I still talk to on a daily basis. It wasn’t the most story driven, awe inspiring game that I’ve ever played but the connections I formed during that are something that I will always be grateful for. Red Dead Redemption 2 was also another game that I fell in love with, it was beautiful and I never knew that I could feel so strongly about a game. These games will always be my inspiration and those feelings are something that I want others to experience.

What hobbies do you have?

Gaming will always be my number one hobby, it being something that has connected me to my decade long friends. Drawing is another hobby of mine, ever since I was young, it was my way to express emotions. Cooking and Baking when I’m not gaming, is something so relaxing as I have time away from the screen and can focus on something else. Baking sweet treats was my love language and I would always give them to my mum.

How would your peers describe you in 3 words?

Creative, Friendly and Passionate

Do you have any industry experience? If so, please give a concise explanation of the experience.

Despite my not having any experience working in an industry setting yet, having worked on team projects with workflows akin to industry means I do have similar experience and gives me an insight into how to be in a collaborative environment.

How would you describe your contribution to your group project?

For 'The Deserter' Project, my role was Lead Lighting and FX artist. I also helped with tasks, such as set dressing and making mechanics like the minimap. The project's style took a lot of inspiration from Star Wars and Destiny 2, giving us a lot of material to work with.

What lessons did you learn from undertaking your project that you'll take with you into your career?

The most important lesson that I learned is how to work in a team. The fact that everyone is different and works at a different pace. No one is perfect, but we all are working towards the same goal in the end: to create something that we can be proud of.

What would your ideal first role in the industry be?

I was lucky enough to land my ideal role in the industry before even finishing my final project. Currently, I'm working for CCP Games as a Tech Art: Lighting and VFX intern.

What's an achievement from the past 3 years that you're proud of?

I think my proudest achievement was definitely landing the job. It was a surreal moment and one that I'd never forget.
