Hey there, I'm Emi. I have a profound love for immersive media and a joy for creating something from scratch, which has always been a source of fulfillment for me. In the future, I aspire to pursue digital sculpting, particularly focusing on organic surfaces such as creatures, plants, furniture, etc. The more stylised the creations, the more it ignites my passion.

What was your inspiration for pursuing a career in Game Art?

The games industry's diverse array of job roles and skill requirements align perfectly with my varied interests and abilities, offering an ideal platform for me to contribute creatively to the development of immersive gaming experiences.

What hobbies do you have?

gaming(obviously) and a lot of traditional art like painting, sewing, sculpting, cosplay etc. I derive immense satisfaction from transforming basic materials and tools into intricate, detailed pieces that express what I love into something physical.

How would your peers describe you in 3 words?

Artistic, Determined and Fast-Working.

Do you have any industry experience? If so, please give a concise explanation of the experience.

While I haven't directly worked in the industry, I've actively participated in workshops, seminars, and industry talks, gaining valuable insights into its demands. Additionally, my involvement in numerous group projects has equipped me with a solid grasp of industry pipelines and collaborative teamwork. Outside of formal settings, I devote my free time to honing my skills in digital sculpting through both commissioned work and personal practice, further preparing myself for a future in the field.

How would you describe your contribution to your group project?

In the group project, "Oasis Retreat," I held the pivotal role of Lead Prop Artist and Art Designer. Initially, my responsibilities included crafting concept art and executing the early block-out stages of the level. I meticulously designed iconic elements in alignment with the Overwatch art style, notably the modular kit for buildings and tents, providing a visual roadmap for the project. Subsequently, I contributed to benchmark assets and further enhanced the scene by creating foliage and various props, particularly focusing on market stalls.

What lessons did you learn from undertaking your project that you'll take with you into your career?

Undertaking the project taught me the importance of flexibility in adapting and refining my work based on feedback and suggestions. Through experience, I've developed a habit of consistently saving my progress and remaining open to sudden changes that may arise during the creative process. These lessons have instilled in me the ability to navigate dynamic environments and respond effectively to evolving project requirements; skills I will undoubtedly carry forward into my career.

What would your ideal first role in the industry be?

I'd love to kickstart my journey in the industry as a 3D General Artist, focusing on digital sculpting in any company. Starting as a Generalist would give me the chance to dive into different areas of creativity. It's not just about honing my skills; it's about exploring new tasks and learning along the way. This role would be the perfect platform for gaining confidence and getting hands-on experience in the industry.
