Hello, my name is Eric and I am a 3rd year specialising in Prop Art. The reason for my passion for Game Art is the overall props pieces created for games; my personal favourite is realistic style game props because of their level of detail and how much creativity can be inspired to model certain pieces. I would like to go into more as a Prop Artist because, when it comes to games, creating props pieces are more my specialty.

What was your inspiration for pursuing a career in Game Art?

My inspiration was the realism style improving through the next-gen games and as a gamer, it was my chance to experience game design firsthand and learn its techniques.

What hobbies do you have?

Gaming, Drawing, Music

How would your peers describe you in 3 words?

Consistant, Dedicated, Reliable

Do you have any industry experience? If so, please give a concise explanation of the experience.

I haven't had any experience working in the industry before, but I have attended workshops previously, which have allowed me to learn a variety of techniques and understanding that can be expanded if I was to work in the industry.

How would you describe your contribution to your group project?

In the project, The Last Shanty, my role was to be the Prop Artist. As the project style took inspiration from Wayfinder, there were some very excellent and interesting stylised prop references and specific instructions to follow for this project to meet the requirements needed from my props to achieve the exact theme and style.

What lessons did you learn from undertaking your project that you'll take with you into your career?

If there was one lesson that I carry with me a lot through the years, it is "trial and error, never give up". The meaning of this is that even if I am stuck on a spot on a particular model, asking for help from an assistant or teammate will allow me to improve my skills and learn how to tackle a challenge in the future, not to mention knowing that I never gave up.

What would your ideal first role in the industry be?

For my first ideal role, I would love to start as a 3D Prop Artist in any type of production studio. Starting as a Prop Artist would allow me the opportunity to expand my skills and improve my specialism as far as possible. My time at Escape has allowed me to explore the different specialisms and for now, this is the role I feel most comfortable and knowledgeable on.

What's an achievement from the past 3 years that you're proud of?

This year, my advanced specialism project was very challenging because I was modelling a very detailed and complex prop; a generator. This was out of my comfort zone during the very few weeks that remained, and I was thinking I would not have been able to complete my prop in time. However, during the time modelling the generator prop, I was very happy with how it turned out in the end and it was my proudest creation yet.
