My name is Ismaeel Ahmed and, for as long as I can remember, the allure of games has always fascinated me. From before I started nursery, I told my parents I wanted to make games, and now I'm on the path to doing just that. My father used to play many games growing up, so I instantly fell in love with their depth and enjoyment. Either complex or simple, they can appeal to anyone and it's my long term dream to open my own studio to pursue my passion and make the games I want, how I want and when I want.

What was your inspiration for pursuing a career in Game Art?
The fact that it's a limitless world with endless options, either an escape or expansion of reality. It's now grown to a place where it's opened up so many careers too. My original reason for wanting to make games was the pure enjoyment I felt as a toddler and I wanted to spread that joy.
What hobbies do you have?
Gym, sports (football boxing muay thai archery), seeking knowledge in countless realms.
How would your peers describe you in 3 words?
Leader, Disciplined, Wise.
Do you have any industry experience? If so, please give a concise explanation of the experience.
I've attended many seminars and workshops lead by industry professionals which allowed to greatly expand my knowledge as well as fine tune and hone my abilities, from simple colour theory to zbrush and maya pipeline work they've been very helpful. I also have participated in a few games jam, run by sports interactive for example, which taught me how to create game ready assets under time pressure. This experience was followed by my job at The Modern Mirror, although not a part of the games industry, I was working in Maya etc to create high quality 3D assets for luxury clients which has taught me how it is to work within a team, under leadership with hard time restrictions.
How would you describe your contribution to your group project?
With experience in being both the leads or just one part of the prop team I'm well equipped for multiple scenarios. I would still take on the hero assets and key assets even if I wasn't in the lead role due to my experience with ZBrush, leading me to be one of the most seasoned and well practiced sculptors in the year group.
What lessons did you learn from undertaking your project that you'll take with you into your career?
To use my ego in a postive way, rather than a destructive one. Everyone has an ego and it's often painted as a bad thing, especially if it's a large part of your personality but rather than shying away from it, lean into it and use it as fuel to be better. If you see someone performing above your standardsm you should use that as proof that you can achieve better yourself.
What would your ideal first role in the industry be?
If I had to choose an entry role it would be a Junior Prop/Character artist at an industry leading company but the ideal situation is to open my own studio and I do see myself doing that in both the long and short term, even if it's on the side creating my own indie projects.
What's an achievement from the past 3 years that you're proud of?
The reconnection and strenghtening I've had with my religion. It's enhanced me as a human tenfold making me far more focused and disciplined and better preparing me to carry harder work loads without complaining. The importance of structure and dilligence when it comes to your life in islam can be directed apply to work, the discipline can be carried over to every part of life, the religion is holistic. It's also taught me that there's beauty in everything and how to see the light in dark times through its numerous teachings, have Tawakkul in Allah, He is the best of planners and all praise is to Him. This helped me overcome adversity within my VR project.
