What was your inspiration for pursuing a career in Game Art?

My inspiration for pursuing a career in game art came during university. I initially aimed to study animation, but after watching a third-year game art class, I was captivated by the blend of creativity and technology in game design. The immersive environments, characters, and props, as well as the interactive storytelling, drew me in and I knew game art was for me.

What hobbies do you have?

In my free time, I enjoy learning the piano, both digital and traditional painting, and baking delicious treats to share with everyone. Playing the piano helps me relax and improve my focus, painting helps keep my creativity flowing, and baking allows me to bring joy to others while experimenting with new recipes.

Do you have any industry experience? If so, please give a concise explanation of the experience.

Although my direct experience within the industry is currently limited, I have immersed myself in relevant academic pursuits during my university education. Additionally, I have undertaken significant roles as an Art Director in various projects, where I successfully managed teams and fostered collaboration. These experiences have not only expanded my knowledge but also honed my ability to effectively maintain cohesion within a group, demonstrating my readiness to enter the industry.

How would you describe your contribution to your group project?

In my Escape projects, I held the role of Art Director, guiding the visual aspects and leading teams to achieve project goals. This experience honed my leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. Additionally, consistently serving as the lead Foliage Artist refined my attention to detail and aesthetic sensibilities, preparing me for the demands of the industry.

What lessons did you learn from undertaking your project that you'll take with you into your career?

A key lesson that will stick with me throughout my future projects and career is the importance of turning all criticisms into constructive feedback. I've come to realize that perfection is elusive, but by embracing feedback and using it to improve, I can strive to get as close as possible. This mindset has taught me the value of humility and collaboration, reminding me that growth often comes from acknowledging and addressing areas for improvement with the help of others.

What would your ideal first role in the industry be?

I'm excited about the prospect of entering the gaming industry as a Foliage Artist. My University experiences, especially as the lead Foliage Artist in projects, have fueled my passion for this role. I love the idea of meticulously crafting lush, immersive environments that enhance players' experiences and contribute to the overall storytelling of a game. I'm eager to apply my skills to create visually stunning and captivating natural landscapes within the dynamic and interactive world of video games.

What's an achievement from the past 3 years that you're proud of?

One of my proudest accomplishments at University was sculpting a breathtaking dragon. I dedicated myself to crafting every detail from its intricate skin folds to its finely textured horns and scales. This project allowed me to showcase my sculpting skills and creativity, resulting in a stunning piece that garnered admiration from both peers and professors.
